Before you begin
Breathwork is a set of conscious breathing practices that intentionally alter the rhythm, depth, and pattern of your breath to produce specific physiological and psychological effects, from deep relaxation to expanded states of consciousness. Pranafy guides you through these techniques with voice, visual cues, and music, so you can practice safely and effectively at home.
Breathwork is generally safe, but it involves significant physiological changes. There are absolute contraindications (pregnancy, epilepsy, uncontrolled blood pressure, recent cardiovascular events, glaucoma, severe psychiatric conditions, anticoagulants). Pranafy includes a complete medical disclaimer you must accept before starting, and we strongly recommend consulting a healthcare professional before beginning any breathwork practice.
Calm and Headspace are excellent for guided meditation and basic relaxation. Pranafy is specifically about breathwork, which is a different discipline with different goals. Where those apps focus on calming the mind, Pranafy gives you tools to actively transform your state of consciousness through breath while still offering deep relaxation practices. A quiet space, a phone, and 15 to 30 minutes. Headphones are recommended for the best experience. Practice in a seated or lying position. Never practice while driving, standing, walking or near water. Practice on an empty stomach (at least 2 hours after eating) for the deepest practices.
